Keep up to date with what is happening in Newmarket right here!
The market town of Newmarket has a weekly Charter Market which originated during medieval times. A medieval market was not only a source of income for the lord of the manor, but also a centre to which people from the neighbouring villages could come to sell their produce and buy what they needed, craftsmen could sell their wares and merchants could obtain raw materials like timber, salt and iron.
Situated on the Market Square to the rear of the Guineas Shopping Centre (near to Marks and Spencer’s) you will find a range of stalls including fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, meat, fish, ladies wear, plants, flowers and much more.
